Dear friend - On behalf of Orphan to Sonship ministries I would to thank you on behalf of all the orphans in kisunu Kenya, for all you support and sponsorship over the last year. We are now home from are last trip to Kenya after a action packed 10 days and we are happy to report that all the legalities surrounding the land we purchased late 2007 has been completed we have the title deeds and the registration of Orphan To Sonship ministry trust is in the process of been finalise.
Original plans went a bit by the way side as we soon discover that what may take a few hours at home could take a day or two in Kenya! During the course of the 10 days we met again with pastor john our trustee in Kenya and had many meeting to attend with the lawyer, the pervious owner of the land who had not signed the transfer of the land, the land registry officials, quantity surveyor, engineers, contractors, children's department and other officials bodies.
We were please to hear that since the new government came into power last year strict legislation has been put in place for the safety and the protection of the children and each children home must comply with the new regulations.
In addition to complying with the building regulations consideration must be given to the maintenance of the home, the welfare of the children, provision of food, education and medical needs. The children must be prepared with life skills enabling them to be independent rather than dependant.
After meeting with local recommended contractors we obtained various prices for the complete project which will be constructed in 5 phases. the first phase being the foundations and the floor slab.
We were extremely thankful for the beautiful sunny weather however now is the time for the rainy season and the locals are crying out for rain so please pray that the much needed rains will come.
Once again thanks you for being part of this project, your generosity has made a difference and we look forward to the children's home being completed.
God bless,
Alan Forsythe
Dear Partner and Friends - greetings in the precious name of the Lord Jesus. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. Habakkuk 2:2-4.
On 29th October 2007 after communing with Pastor John Atieno for almost 18 months we visited him Kisuma, Kenya where the spiritual was brought into the natural and land was purchased to fulfil the vision that God has showed us in 1994. This land, just over 2 acres is about 5 miles from the city of Kisumu, which is situated at the beautiful Lake Victoria and on the main road to Nairobi. We give God the glory because this road is tarmaced and accessible even in the rainy season. It is also a miracle of God that electricity run parallel with this main road and is only yards from the site.
After travelling overnight we arrived in Kisumu, had a short rest and then we visited the first orphanage, which was home to about 91 children. This was mainly a tin construction with a clay floor. 45 of these children were orphans and our vision is to transfer these children to the new children's home. This fulfils a prophecy which we given to the ministry back in 2003 which said there would be a prepared people waiting.
The following day we had the privilege of visiting an orphanage and Samaki Widows Centre out in the bush. We were met by many children some on bicycles and some who had walked bare footed for about 2 miles out to greet us. It was a most amazing site to see the children out on their bikes with branches of greenery on the front of their bikes as a sign of honour to us and the widows who were singing and praising God at the entrance as we arrived. The children who are being educated on combating Aids put on a program singing about the importance of personal hygiene. They had us all participating in some African dancing and the widows blessed us with a traditional Kenyan meal. This is a blessing to see that from a very early age the children are being educated in the fight against Aids.
Next day we had the privilege of visiting a community school with about 300 pupils. After the team shared a word and the gospel was preached the children were given the opportunity to receive Jesus as Lord. 12 children received Jesus and many, many children came forward for prayer for sickness and for their exams. The power of God was evident as we prayed and 2 girls went down in the spirit, one was delivered from a spirit of epilepsy and the other malaria.
On Friday morning we visited another community school which was supported by the Roman Catholic Church. There were 360 children and sadly 120 were orphans. Once again we had the opportunity to share the message of salvation ad around 95% of the children and 4 teachers gave their lives to the Lord. Many children received prayer for sickness. So many children with malaria, TB, aids, headaches and tummy pains largely due to the effects of malnutrition. Even though the children will walk home for lunch many will return again to school after having only got a drink of water, as there is no food for them at home.
Saturday morning was spent pricing beds, mattresses and furniture for the children's home. Good quality bunk beds complete with sides and ladders were costing £80.00 each and a good quality mattress £25.00 each. In the afternoon we went out with Pastor John and team to take food to the widows in the local area. As well as providing food we were able to arrange medical help for an HIV positive widow who desperately needed to get into hospital. Another widow who was facing eviction from her home as she could not afford the £5.00 per month rent was provided with a new home debt free. As the team was praying for another family the spirit of God revealed that there was anointing on the young teenage boy for business and we had the opportunity to sow into this young mans life.
On Sunday we visited River of Life Ministries, Pastor Johns church on the edge of Lake Victoria. We were so blessed to hear the people worshipping God and after The Word was preached 8 people gave their lives to the lord and practically everyone in the church received000 prayer for sickness.
Monday was a historic day when at the lawyers office the star of the vision was manifest, the land was purchased and put into trust for Orphans to Sonship ministries. This is a miracle and we give God the glory that in 1-week the lad was purchases and completed before we left Kenya for home.
Our first priority is now to fence the land and then drill a bore hole to provide water not only for the future but for the construction of the building. This will cost approximately £300 for both.
To all our sponsors and friends of the ministry we thank you so much for all your prayers and sponsorship in the past. We trust you will continue to support the ministry as we seek to fulfil the vision that God has placed on our hearts and see Orphans to Sonship Children's Home completed to the Glory of God and for the children who so desperately need a place to call home.
God Bless,
Alan & Linda
